Baby Clothes Blanket
For all of my babies, I have saved most of their newborn baby clothes, especially the sentimental ones given from family members or those special purchases that we made, thinking of them before we even met them. Newborn clothes are my favorite... so sweet and tiny. For my girls, I have a few boxes in the garage of their clothes that just sit there. For my boy, I wanted to do something different with them. I've always wanted to make something with the girls clothes but just never got around to it.
I've seen things online of mom's having blankets made out of some of their kiddos' clothes but I am not a quilt maker... at all... I love to sew but I only sew by hand cuz I don't have a sewing machine and even if I did, I would have no idea how to use it.
Anyways, I just decided I would start cutting and just go for it! I picked out his newborn-ish clothes that were special to me. Most came from his Grammies (my Mom) and his Grandpa (Tony's Dad). Some came from others and some from us. There is one from my brother and sister-in-law that they gave to Mo (from NY) that was passed down to each kiddo. One was even worn by my oldest brother as a baby (the "Bear with me")
There was no real-official-this-is-the-right-way-to-do-it thing. I just had fun with it and it turned out cuddly and cute and sentimental and it allows me to see those sweet clothes everyday. He loves it and sleeps with it at every nap and bedtime sleep.
Once I pieced everything together, I lined the middle with extra cotton and then put on the back a super-dee-duper soft blanket that keeps him snug-as-a-bug on these cold Colorado nights.
I love making things for my kids and I especially love when they love it back! Now my girls want me to make them their own too!
