What do we obsess over?

What gives us anxiety? (The Lord doesn’t speak through anxiety)

Elizabeth Elliot quote:

“Fear arises when we imagine that everything depends on us.”

Some idols we easily bow to:

Health

The health of our children

Wealth

Fame

Attention

Follower count

Views

Promotion

Titles

Homes

Beauty

Politics

Religion

Ministry

Stages

Fear of man

Interior design

Wisdom

Intelligence

Fear

Alcohol

Anything that numbs feelings

Shopping

Addictions

Food

Diets

Work

Family

Dating

Business

Learning

Sleep (for so He gives His beloved sleep)

Safety

Money

Social justice

Trauma

Being in control

If any of these made you think, “that’s not an idol, that’s just____” maybe that’s your idol? Your idol wants to keep you idolizing it through justifying it in your mind that’s it ok, that’s it’s not an idol, that’s it’s just wisdom or logic or good for you. But the wisdom of God is not of this world.

It’s not to say we throw everything out and not live but we have to be aware who is on the throne

Be careful not to bow to anything other than God.

What gives us anxiety? The Bible says to be anxious for nothing but in everything, through prayer and thanksgiving, make your request known to God and the peace of God which surpasses understanding will guard or hearts in Christ Jesus OUR LORD.

Who is our Lord?

Be careful not to give salvation to any other. Gideon shouts “For the Lord and for Gideon” when God dwindled his army to 300. They miraculously won by God alone but his men gave Gideon credit. Let it not be said of us OR us say of another.

As mothers…

What we don’t fight in our lives to conquer, our children will be left to clean it up and fight themselves. The mess we leave and ignore is what we pass down generationally.

Let’s leave them a godly inheritance not idol worship residue

Abide in Jesus

This is how you abide in Him: by soaking up as much scripture as possible. Revelation 19 says Jesus is called “the Word of God” so as we fill our minds with God’s Word we are filling ourselves with Jesus.
